According to legend, Kapil Muni meditated here and the Kolayat Lake, also known as Kapil Sarovar, is believed to have been created by him. The lake and its surrounding temples are considered sacred and attract numerous pilgrims each year.

3. Kolayat Fair:

Held around the time of Kartik Purnima (the full moon day in the Hindu month of Kartik), the fair features religious ceremonies, cultural performances, and vibrant market stalls. It is a time of celebration and devotion, with various rituals and festivities taking place.

• Timing: Kolayat is generally open to visitors throughout the day. The best time to visit is during the cooler months from October to March. The Kolayat Fair is a special time to experience the town’s cultural and religious vibrancy.

• Dress Code: Modest attire is recommended when visiting the temples and sacred sites. Visitors should wear clothing that covers the shoulders and knees. Removing shoes before entering temple premises is required.

• By Road: Kolayat is well-connected by road from Bikaner. You can travel by taxi or bus from Bikaner, which is approximately 100 kilometers away. The journey takes about 2-3 hours.

• By Rail: The nearest railway station is in Bikaner. From the railway station, you can hire a taxi or use local transport to reach Kolayat.

• By Air: The nearest airport is in Jodhpur, approximately 250 kilometers away. From Jodhpur, you can travel to Bikaner by road and then proceed to Kolayat.
