National Chambal Gharial Sanctuary
Description
The severely endangered gharial (small crocodiles), the red-crowned roof turtle, and the endangered Ganges river dolphin reside in the 5,400 sq. km. tri-state National Chambal Sanctuary, also known as the National Chambal Gharial Wildlife Sanctuary.
Good to know
Visitors to the National Chambal Sanctuary have a lot of opportunity to see wildlife. Hiring a boat with a driver and guide, which is an option at various spots along the river, will give you the best chances of seeing and photographing gharial and dolphins. A boat journey will provide numerous opportunities to capture images of water and shorebirds, as well as landscapes. The many different types of plants and animals in the sanctuary can be closely observed on the walking routes that go along the river and into the ravines.
